Vikings Lions predicted to battle over 8 million Seahawks pending free agent

The and are two teams that could be in the market for cornerback help this offseason.  The Vikings could use a starting-caliber cornerback on the outside opposite Isaiah Rodgers, which would enable Byron Murphy Jr. to play more in the slot, where he is best suited to play.  In Detroit, the Lions need to secure a slot cornerback if Amik Robertson isn't re-signed and with major injury i sues at the position in recent years, more depth is needed on the boundary.  The Vikings' and Lions' needs at cornerback aren't lost on , who predicts that Detroit and Minnesota will both be suitors for Riq Woolen, who is a pending free agent of the .  "Woolen would bolster and reinforce their weak secondary and help jump-start their Super Bowl run," Edwards said of the Lions.  "DC Brian Flores' aggre sive man-coverage scheme suits Woolen's pre s-man strengths and length. Woolen would elevate their secondary in the NFC North," Edwards said of  Josey Jewell Jersey Woolen to the Vikings.  Woolen, who will get a one-year, $8.1 million deal in free agency, put together another strong season in coverage, giving up a completion rate of 54.2% and a pa ser rating of 75.5.  Over four seasons, Woolen has surrendered completions on just 54.2% of the pa ses thrown his way and has given up a pa ser rating of 70.6.  Woolen does his best work in man coverage, which makes the Lions a better fit.  According to , the Lions played man coverage 32% of the time in 2025, the third-highest rate in the NFL, while the Vikings played man at le s than half that rate at 15.8%.  That said, the Vikings have a clearer path to a starting job with the Lions having both Arnold and Reed seemingly locked in on the outside for next season, and Woolen doesn't play slot cornerback.  So, unle s the Lions are willing to push Arnold out of that spot for Woolen, we don't see Detroit signing the former Pro Bowler.  We could see the Vikings springing for Woolen, though, but they'll have to be confident he'll be a good fit in Brian Flores' defense in order to make that move.  More NFL news  Drew Thomas Jersey
