I've watched plenty of new players get stuck in that awkward phase where you want everything, but your bank balance says "nope." When Rockstar turns on 4x pay for Associates and Bodyguards, it's one of the easiest ways to stop feeling broke without buying a single business, and it pairs nicely with any other GTA 5 Money tips you're already using. You just need a CEO or MC President who's hiring, and in most public lobbies there's always someone running work and looking for extra hands.
On a normal week, the wage is basically pocket change: $5,000 every 15 minutes if you're signed on and not causing problems. It barely covers ammo, let alone upgrades. With the 4x event, that changes fast. Your first pay tick jumps to $20,000, and if you stay employed and don't get yourself killed, it ramps up until you're seeing $40,000 every 15 minutes. That's $160,000 an hour for simply being on the roster, riding along, and not doing anything reckless.
The salary is nice, but the smart move is treating it like a bonus that lands while you're already working. If your CEO is launching VIP Work like Headhunter or Sightseer, you get the mission payout and then your wage tick drops on top of it. Same goes for quick Sell Missions, some contact work, or even just running interference when the boss is moving crates. You'll notice your hourly take climbs without that "one mistake and the whole run's ruined" feeling you get from heists. No setup fees, no property requirements, no long travel back and forth unless your CEO makes it painful.
Here's the part people forget: that wage ladder is fragile. If you die, your pay rate resets and you're back to climbing from the bottom. So play it a bit boring. Stay near cover, keep snacks and armor ready, and don't chase some random Deluxo across the map just to prove a point. If the lobby's a warzone, suggest swapping sessions or sticking close to the CEO's route. Most bosses would rather keep a steady bodyguard than babysit someone who's constantly respawning.
Sure, Cayo can outpay almost everything if you're fast, focused, and don't mind repeating the same steps. But after work, a lot of us aren't trying to sweat that hard. The 4x Associate week is chill money with a squad vibe, and it's perfect for players who want progress without stress; if you're still impatient, some folks will even buy GTA 5 Money to skip the grind and just enjoy the game's good stuff sooner.
